Lord Foulkes has demonstrated how out of touch politicians are with public feeling by attacking BBC journalists for criticising MPs’ expenses. Sure, there are newsreaders who get paid more than most of us think they should. But they are not clearly on the fiddle, unlike some of George’s former colleagues in the Lower House.

I’ve got little sympathy for MPs. But their wages are distinctly average.
And while the Telegraph expose has been a stonker, we shouldn’t overlook the fact that the majority of MPs haven’t been cheating their exes.
Good on Foulkes for challenging the sneering double standards at the Beeb.
I’m fed up listening to a bunch of overpaid, self-important cretins constantly interrupting anybody brave enough to venture onto their TV/radio shows.
Journalists? Most of them couldn’t find their arse in the dark. With both hands!
To be honest, knowing how the Beeb works, I think there’s very little room for any eccies fiddling there.
I’ve got not problem with journos sneering at MPs, especially Jambos!
I was amazed that an anonymous News 24 newsreader earned £92,000. I was always of the view that during political interviews of any sort the participants’ annual income and/or inherited wealth should be displayed on the screen so we know where they’re coming from.
